Lasting Impressions: Samia Halaby book cover design

The Sharjah Museum Authority hosts an annual exhibition under the series Lasting Impressions. The exhibits highlight prominent Arab artists who have had a great impact on the development and evolution of modern art in the Arab world. This year’s exhibition showcased the incredible work of Samia Halaby, a leading abstract artist and influential scholar of Palestinian art.

Book Design

Samia Halaby is one of the pioneer abstract artists in the Arab world. With a career spanning over six decades, she became pivotal in studying and executing the concept of abstraction as well as deconstructing geometry and form. Samia’s exhibition includes 180 works of various sizes and mediums presenting the audience an overview of the artist and taking them through a journey of her work. Giving insight and details of each period and style. As well as bringing to light certain historical events that shaped the artist's life and defined her practice.

We were approached by the Sharjah Museum Authority to help design the dual-language exhibition catalogue. The book presents Samia’s work across six decades of dedicated painting and exploration of the possibilities surrounding image making. The book was published to coincide with Samia’s Lasting Impressions show in Sharjah.
