That Design Festival 2024

Middlesex University Dubai presents the second edition of their 2-day student design festival: a vibrant platform crafted exclusively to support the journey of emerging designers, by igniting their creativity and shaping tomorrow’s design leaders.

The theme for this year’s festival is TRANSFORMATION.

TRANSFORMATION signifies an active change of state. It involves a complete shift from one state or form to another, often resulting in a fundamental difference in the nature, character, or appearance of the subject.

When it comes to how we create, it's always changing too – from the days of the Renaissance to the modern era, and now with AI and everything in between. These transformations have shaped our ideas, what piques our curiosity, and even the tools we use to create our work.

Our Creative Director Elliott will be hosting a talk Form & Substance: Building Brands Better and taking part in a Q&A Future of Design to discuss the effects of AI in/on our industry. The talk is built around M&B’s approach to our partner’s projects where strategic foundations are the cornerstone of beautifully crafted visual identity systems. Through a variety of case studies, Elliott invites the audience on a journey through the studio’s collaborative approach to creating brands with enduring substance.

There are loads of incredible industry professionals giving inspirational talks – Ashraf Ghori (artist, filmmaker), Farid Bawa (All India Permit), Nadia Mendez (Wired Magazine MENA), Maria Mihailova (&Play), Razan Takash (writer, director, producer), Rana Sadek (Impact BBDO), Tamara Pinto, Clare Napper (Highlife), Ramzi Moutran (Do Epic Sh*t), Maram Al Refaei (Archief Cairo), Liz Ramos (visual artist), Ellen Lupton (Maryland Institute College of Art).

That Design Festival runs from the 12-13th February and is open to everyone. For more information and to register to attend please visit the website here.
